I am happy to report that I have accepted a tenure-track position at Chattanooga State Community College and will begin teaching Composition there in the fall (2010). This is a welcomed opportunity to continue my research and use of technology and multimedia in the teaching of composition. I plan on defending my prospectus for the dissertation in the coming months and beginning my classroom research in the spring.
Update to this update (9/14/2011). So it turns out that CSCC was not the best place to advance my practices in the use of technology and multimedia in the Composition classroom. Those of us who are blazing the path for new media studies in the field of composition and rhetoric still have a long road in front of us as many English departments and composition programs are still not conducive to the introduction of new media texts into first-year composition classrooms. I have completed my research and am currently finishing up my dissertation. New media does have a viable and important place in first-year composition and I will continue pursuing this line of study and work until I find the right fit for me.
